S/W *4462 C13/C9.1.30. Large Section Tyres - India and Others. ------------------- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/MJl.1.30 *4462 x7820 x5820. We note the objections to the "India" tyres and are arranging for this information to be conveyed to customers whenever these are ordered. So far as wheel clearances are concerned, however, we unfortunately are not absolutely able to control customers as to the fitting of tyres and although we might fit tyres with a certain kind of section when the car is delivered there is nothing to guarantee that as soon as these tyres wear out they are not replaced with something else; for instance, Dunlops ordinary standard tyre I understand is rather larger than the "Silent" tyre (apart from the Fort) and as the "Silent" tyre cannot be obtained everywhere customers will no doubt be fitting the buttress. Therefore, although we discourage the fitting of any tyres except those that we recommend, we are not always able to control this matter and therefore provision should be made on the Coachbuilders prints to allow for such possibilities. I note you are circulating a standardisation sheet for the 20" rim and that this will enable you to fit Fort tyres. C. | ||
