COPY. S/W. c. to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Re. Silent Tread Tires. Please see the attached copy of a letter which I have received from Mr. Cooper, of the India Tire & Rubber Co. which was in reply to one from me telling Mr. Cooper the opinions that I had heard of the Silent Tread type of tire, and giving him my own views. What Mr. Cooper writes appears to be very interesting and a matter which might lead to considerable developments. I take it that with balanced brakes such as ours, we should have little to fear from any brake-testing machine. I should however, be interested to hear your views on the matter. I should not perhaps attach so much importance to statements such as Mr. Cooper makes, were it not for the fact that during the 15 years that I have known him, I have come to look upon him as a very live, capable and thorough individual, and not given to rash statements.
