B.III NO. 3 UNIT - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}

Tests.

(a) Open exhaust power curve on best timing ½ tooth late, at the same time including spark advance at T.D.C. setting.

(b) With silencer check valve bounce speed and detonation up to 1500 R.P.M. on Redline, Shell and Ethyl.

(c) Oil Cons. at 4000 R.P.M. and if any leak past special rear end of crank. Check at what speed leak starts.

(d) Timing gears to be checked for rattle and whine. These to be O.K. before passing off.

(e) Set idling, generally tune up, noises, curing leaks etc. after which unit to be passed off and Wraith III No.4 refitted.

NO. 5 TEST HOUSE.

UNIVERSAL BED.

WRAITH III. NO. 7.

Unit to be tested preparatory before being passed off for fitting in 26.G.VI.

The following new parts have been fitted after 15,000 miles inspection.

(a) Attwater's fibre cam wheel (no balancer).

(b) Up to date R.R. distributor and spring drive.

(c) New piston rings.

(d) New die cast AC.9 big ends.

After running in tests to include:-

(a) Power curves open exhaust and with silencer.

(b) Valve bounce speed with silencer fitted.
