RE "FLEXO" GEAR BOX.

Referring to the Flexo Gear Box, this is extremely interesting, and I think promises to be quite useful. We intend to give it every consideration, and if possible, put a trial box in hand at a very early date.

We think their patents are very weak indeed, but their trading terms are so easy that one would not feel inclined to quarrel with them.

This scheme seems something like the free-wheel arrangement that we made years ago in part of its action, but has the great advantage of holding the car down a hill. I can understand that by manipulating the clutch and the throttle, engagement can always be obtained, but unless this is done one would naturally feel that there are doubts about the gears engaging under certain circumstances. Argyles had a somewhat similar arrangement long ago, i.e. spring loaded jaw clutches.
