CHASSIS G.T.L.34. (25/30)

The cylinder blocks and pistons off the above customer's car were returned from Cricklewood and handed over to us for investigation, on account of the very poor oil consumption which was obtained in the customer's hands.

Measurements of the block are reasonably good, and actually after running on the test bed, the final oil consumption figure was very good in comparison with other standard blocks and pistons tried at various times.

As received, the consumption when checked at 4000 R.P.M. full throttle was 3/4 pts/hr. and after 8 hours running a consumption of 3/8 pts/hr. was obtained and remains constant irrespective of further running.

Run under the same conditions, the average of a number of 25/30 blocks and pistons come out at approximately 1 - 1 1/4 pts/hr.

From the result it is imagined that this particular customer is one who has never run the car hard, otherwise we should never have registered such an improvement in the consumption figure on the bed.

This verifies the results that have been obtained in several instances where cars have improved appreciably by hard running.

We are returning the cylinder block and pistons to you complete and would like them to be fitted as handed over on the next 25/30 you have, which is bad for oil consumption and will be interested to know the result.
