| (SHEET 2.) SHOCK DAMPERS. Piston die cast perhaps in bronze, square hole in centre with smallest practical taper, but stirrup can fit pressure plate instead. Suggest we try which is the better: I think the bottom but pressure plate fit the more practical. 30º line representing roof. 30º each side of centre concentric - after this it is spiral because to couple up piston is difficult unless we swing it out so that the spiral cam can compress the spring and lift stirrup of bottom. Nitro hardened pressure plate thick to bridge over spring, small screws sufficient. One might use thin sheet metal control for spring at top - cannot rivet. Spring might taper - i.e. smaller at bottom so that square hole in piston could position top end. Bottom rounded for strength: this shape can encroach on road clearance slightly. | ||
