(6) I was proceeding in the direction of Chellaston on the above car; I was taking a left hand bend at about 25 to 30 M.P.H. (The weather was foggy). When in the middle of the bend a small car appeared, coming from the direction of Chellaston at approx. 30 M.P.H. The driver appeared to be making for the radiator of my car; in order to avoid a head-on collision I was compelled to run on to the pavement and stop. Before stopping, however, the rear off-side wheel and wing of my car hit the off-side of his car, doing considerable damage to the other car, but little to 18.G.IV. Upon questioning the driver as to why he was on his wrong side, and making straight for my car, he replied that he was unable to see owing to the fog. His lamps were not illuminated - mine were.
