contd :- -2- As regards the silencer. We are sending out new pieces to overcome the faults you have complained of; as a precaution we are also sending a new manifold. We have tried to reproduce your fault of the water splashing out of the top of the radiator, but we cannot reproduce it with the car standing in the Shop. The weather has been so foggy today that we have not been able to carry out tests on the road. We recommend however that you make some temporary tin baffles, or that you try and place the drain pipes in another position so that the water will not splash over. We think it will be necessary for the clutch to be dismantled at Chateauroux and an attempt made to get it free. We have now running 19-EX and 20-EX and these clutches are giving no trouble whatever as regards stopping. You will also remember that the particular clutch on the unit you have was satisfactory for stopping but went wrong after it had been dismantled to examine for jaggers. We suspect that it is either alignment or parts too tightly fitted. Allen and Lytton have been warned that they may XXXXX have to work Christmas day and Boxing day. We want the modifications made with the least possible delay in the running and we are hoping that you will have sufficient help to carry out this work at the same time as the inspection. As regards the springs hitting the subframe. We should like you to do what you can to clear this but if it is in any way objectionable contd :- | ||
