X7770 Expl: Dept: Messrs. Rolls)Royce Ltd., Derby. 21st. Dec. 1928 X7941 Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. Mr. Hancock from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} We attach herewith a memo. we have received from London in which you will see that Sales are coming out to Chateauroux to ride in the SS.{S. Smith} car and also that the car is to be handed over to them at the completion of 9000 miles and they will run the car how and where they like, after that they will deliver the car back to you for examination. We wired you today as follows :- SENDING ALLEN AND LYTTON WITH STARTER MOTOR, DYNAMO AND SILENCER PARTS WILL ARRIVE MONDAY OBVIOUS FAULTS SHOULD BE CORRECTED WITH MINIMUM DELAY OF TEST WIRE IF ANY OTHER PARTS REQUIRED - HIVES. We are anxious to have all the obvious faults on this car corrected. We have now tried two other cars fitted with similar starters and they are infinitely more reliable than the one on 18-EX. We are therefore sending you a new starter motor out by Allen to be fitted to your car. Tests here have shewn that there are faults on the system as arranged on 18-EX. We are therefore sending out the necessary new parts so that this particular unit can be corrected. contd :- | ||
