Whr.{Mr Wheeler} London. X5990 Pt.10/FE-10-1-25. C. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Derby. C.W.D. London. With reference to power developed by 20 H.P. chassis, I think we could do with rather more for Australian conditions due to the fact that owing to bad surface of roads it is practically impossible to get any "run" at a hill and when it comes to climbing the said hill without a "run" the American cars have us beaten on account of their bigger, softer engine and their lower back axle ratio. We are inconsistent in fitting a cut-out to the 40 H.P. and not the 20 H.P. and I feel sure you will agree that of the two the 20 H.P. needs it the more; also if a cut-out were fitted this model would be more likely appeal to people who would put a light 4 seater coachwork on it, the very class of people for whom this chassis was originally designed. Could we not also have a somewhat freer exhaust by making some alterations in the silencer? Pt. N. | ||
