X.8691 - VENTILATION OF DISTRIBUTOR.

Various bench tests have proved that the rusting of the steel parts and corrosion of the metal parts which occurs in the distributor head is considerably reduced by the provision of more ventilation. We are now making up experimentally distributors with increased ventilation (of the head and contact breaker base) to LeC.2121. at the same time the two methods for the exclusion of crank chamber gases.

We are sending under separate cover for R's inspection one U.S.A. Bosch distributor head, the construction of which with regard to the H.T. collecting pins is somewhat different from ours. It does not appear to have any provision for ventilation either in the head itself or in the contact breaker base.

At the same time we are taking steps to procure an up-to-date Delco-Remy ignition unit for the purpose of observing the various features.
