X4698 Exptl. Dept. HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Les.11/KW. 14th February, 1934. The Packless Gland Co. Ltd., Windmill Road, Sunbury, Middlesex. Dear Sirs, BELLOWS UNIT F.85395. We have inspected a further 50 units which have recently come to hand. Out of these 50 units 31 have been rejected by our gauges as being incorrect for bellows diameter. After personal inspection we find that the majority of these bellows are fairly close to our limits, and in view of the demand we shall use them. We have however instructed our Order Office to return one from this 50 which is bad for size and not well soldered. We understood from your letter of the 10th inst. that no further trouble would continue. Although we realise that the last 50 bellows are much better for bellows size than the old standard, they do not come within the .010" limits. When the Writer was at your Works a suggestion of .005" limits was made by Mr. Payne, so we imagine that .010" should be practical. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
