421 Exptl. Dept. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 21/KW. 13th February, 1935. Messrs. Rudge-Whitworth Ltd., Rudge Works, Coventry. For the attention of Mr. Hack. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 11th January, and have now machined up a hub nut to incorporate a lead on to the thread, and also air holes for the release of pressure built up when screwing the nut on rapidly. We are sending this nut to you under separate cover. We should be glad if you could supply us with another nut incorporating these features and also the loose bronze insert at the same time having longer ears offset to facilitate hammering. We find that we cannot improve the splines much by chamfering as they are too fine. We shall be glad if you could let us have this hub cap at your earliest convenience, and are passing you an official order in due course. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
