To E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From ROY. {Sir Henry Royce} c. to HY. {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} [Crossed out] c. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ---------------- You will recollect Mr. Hack, of the Rudge-Whitworth Company, told us they were producing Wheel Lock Nuts with loose brass inserts - such inserts being fitted for the dual object of: (a) Prevention of the galling of the cone on the wheel hub (b) A better tightening effect on to the cones. They have now completed 4 such Sets - which are handed to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} herewith. Would you kindly arrange to test out and let us know the result in due course. Incidentally I would remind all that we are the first Company to be approached on the subject, and Rudge-Whitworth are anxious we should not disclose any details to any of their competitors. As far as I can gather the Patent is not yet fully protected.
