Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} C. to EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X1588 ROY{Sir Henry Royce}19/MG17.12.23 Messrs. Alexander Duckham & Co, Broad Street Place, London E.C.2 write:- "We understand from our Birmingham District Manager that your "experimental department has carried out trials of "Adcol" "New Process Oil "N.P.3" with satisfactory results, and that "you would be prepared when asked to say that you find "N.P.3" "satisfactory for use on your cars. "In view of your satisfactory trials we were wondering whether "you would permit us to put your name at the top of a list "of names of car manufacturers who recommend "Adcol" New "Process Oil, and who have made trials similar to your own, "although perhaps not of the same thoroughness as your tests. "To give you some idea of how far we have got we are enclosing "herewith a list of motor firms who advise owners of their "cars to use no other than "Adcol" New Process Oil, together "with a list of those who recommend the oil as being quite "satisfactory. "If you will allow us to put your name at the head of the "second list, this will give owners of Rolls Royce Cars a "definite assurance that they can use "Adcol" New Process Oil "with complete satisfaction. Personally I was not aware that we had tested "Adcol" Oil, and propose replying to Messrs. Duckham that, in view of our arrangements with another Lubricant firm, we regret we cannot see our way to agree with their proposal that they should be at liberty to state we recommend their Oil as being suitable for our vehicles. If you are in agreement, I will then ask BJ to confirm also. ROY{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
