Issues with brake shaft lubrication and a proposed alteration to the standard bearing cap G.50755.

lubricator provided. If a grease gun is applied to the lubricator at A.{Mr Adams} Fig.1. it is noticed that the bracket bends from the point B. in the direction of the arrow C., tending to force the bearing for the brake actuating shafts off the shafts.
Cases have occurred in which the distortion caused by attempted lubrication has remained permanent and to such a degree that the brake shafts were tightened up in their bearings and the brakes would not release after application.
These causes are the extremes, in which the brake shafts are an exceptionally good fit in the bearing caps and probably also the oil flow from the bearing was further impeded by mud etc.
At A.{Mr Adams} in Fig.2. is shown the standard bearing cap G.50755 in which oil is fed to the outer end of the brake shaft bearings, and has to pass along the total length of the bearing before any overflow is noticed.
At B. is shown a modification of this in which oil is fed to an oil groove in the middle of the bearing and hence
