(11) The tap is then opened, and oil in the top tank (approx. half full) will be forced into the crankshaft. The glass gauge at the side, will indicate the rate of flow so that the person with a stop watch will be ready to clock immediately the oil passes the red line in the main glass tube.

(12) A check is taken of the oil pressure recorded by the instrument on the dash. This gives an indication of whether it is con rods or main bearing, (when they get used to it).

(13) The time taken is between the two red lines.

(14) A tray catches the oil from the sump, but it should be emptied, or two trays used, after a few moments of starting as the original oil in the crankshaft is forced out.

(15) The oil that is used for the test is filtered for use again. (C.W. Oil).
