X.2748 We notice that the piston which has been instructed as standard has the rings 1/8" lower down than the pistons we have tested, also we notice that the clearances as given on the drawing are not what we recommend. So far we have not tested any pistons similar to those which have been instructed but we hope to have some running in about a weeks time. We recommend that you should instruct the Works to only proceed with Castings and should not do any machining. We think you should take this precaution, as pistons are a nice easy job and the Works may get quickly on machining them. The castings are bound to be alright, they will make either the present type of piston which we are running on 49-GB and which we are satisfied with or this later model EH. | ||
