In the absence of Bly.{B. W. Bleaney - Bentley Sales} on holiday I have written to Mr. Briggs Cunningham as per the attached copy. We are not able to offer the Bentley Coupe which would be shown on the Stand, because this will be required for exhibition purposes until we are able to obtain normal stock supplies. The delivery position of the B-V is rather indefinite at the moment, although we are expecting production chassis to be available some time in December. In view of the remarks in your last paragraph we have erred rather on the cautious side in making the delivery promise to Mr. Briggs Cunningham. I take it you do not altogether wish us to encourage him to purchase a B-V by making extremely favourable delivery promises. Possibly in view of this owner's known requirements it would be advisable to influence him in the direction of waiting until we are able to supply a car which we know will be more to his taste. Bs.{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager} [Signature] Att: Bsl/ES.12.8.39. P.S: Since dictating the above we have received a telephone message from Central Garage Ltd. of Bradford advising us they have purchased Mr. Briggs Cunningham's present Bentley from Lagonda Motors Ltd. This rather makes it appear that Mr. Cunningham has already made a deal with Lagondas. | ||
