-4- UNDERSHIELDS. X.3468 These undershields are fully instructed but in pre-war form of instruction, the modern form of instruction is in hand and is waiting for the tested undershields which are now being tried and altered in place on the experimental chassis. The works in the meantime can of course proceed by the pre-war method of fitting undershields. Parts not affecting works or only indirectly. INSTRUMENT BOARD. X.1362 The arrangement of the instrument has been prepared for Mr. Royce's approval. These boards are manufactured by the coachbuilders, and the Works send out with the chassis a dummy baord only, but with the instruments fitted. The Clock is not supplied by us. The Speedometer may or may not be provided by Rolls-Royce but we are in negotiation with Messrs. Elliotts regarding type and finish, in order that we may give definite recommendation through Sale to customers. The type and finish of the instrument is likely to be settled in one week from date. The Switchboard will be fitted by the Works to the dummy instrument board, and we are in negotiation with Messrs. Lucas regarding type and finish. This matter is likely to be settled in one week from date. The Ammeter will be fitted to the dummy instrument board by the Works, and is on order. It is not anticipated that difficulty will be experienced regarding delivery. The Thermometer (Instrument portion) will be fitted to the dummy instrument board by the Works, and we are negotiating with the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Co., regarding type and finish. It is anticipated that we shall at first, of necessity, use the standard instrument, and this can be obtained without delay. OIL AND FUEL GAUGES. These will be fitted to the dummy instrument board by the Works, and we are negotiating with Messrs. Salters regarding type and finish. There is likely to be difficulty in obtaining the required finish in time, but arrangements will be made to obtain a small number to avoid delay in the delivery of chassis. Contd. | ||
