Dr. J.C. Morrison. -2- 17.6.37. (5) Does power loss decrease in any direct relationship to back pressure, and if so would this relationship be the same for single cylinder and main engines ? (6) What is the effect of power output on back pressure, i.e., is there any absolute relationship between the two, connecting say gas flow and back pressure ? (7) Have you by any chance evolved a method of testing silencers for noise and power loss by using air flow methods ? (8) Can a single cylinder unit have its exhaust pulsations smoothed out to give a reproduction of main engine effects ? (9) What is the effect of compression ratio on power loss ? Can this be connected up with item 6 ? This just about runs me out at present, but expect I'll be able to think of a lot more questions before very long. However, if you can possibly help on any of the above points I shall be very grateful, and if you can suggest any methods of doing the job to get the best results in the shortest time, I can assure you it won't come amiss. Trusting to hear from you before long, I remain, Yours sincerely, | ||
