To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} c. to C. c. to H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X3894 Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}11/W23919 X3894 RE WOODEN WHEELS. I attach copy of C13/H20919 received from Mr. Cowen, together with a copy of letter dated Sept. 2nd. from Mr. Schuette. I believe you are of the opinion that we should not agree to the fitting of wood wheels but I am not clear whether you wish us to refuse such cases as the attached in which strong efforts have been made to persuade prospective customers to the use of wire wheels. One feels that greater difficulty will be experienced today in obtaining satisfactory and properly seasoned wood for wheels than in the past, and that therefore there is an increased amount of risk in using this type. I also understand that we have no approved design of hub suitable for a wooden wheel for the present axle. This point is being investigated further. Bn.{W.O.
