The Manor House, Heene, Worthing. 30th July 1931 The Managing Director, Rolls-Royce Ltd., 14-15 Conduit Street W.1. Dear Sir, I am the owner of two of your smaller car GOJ-2 20 h.p.Coupe and GSR-10 20/25 h.p.Saloon. The former was purchased secondhand when it had done only 2000 miles in June 1928; total mileage to date under 13,000 miles. At first this car was perfect but developed, probably from want of work, slipper drive trouble. It was sent to Cricklewood and after a few months again developed the same trouble. It was again sent to Cricklewood and yet again developed the same trouble. A few weeks ago it was taken by me to Derby as I thought there the trouble would be cured. After four days I went out with one of your Tester's and the car appeared O.K. I took it away and drove with my chauffeur to Buxton - some 38 miles and we again both noticed the trouble when taking an incline on top. As I could not at once again spare the car I arranged to send it up to Derby after the Works holiday... --- In regard to GOJ-2 I am absolutely at a loss to understand why the trouble in the slipper drive cannot be permanently cured and I suspect there may be something either in the crank shaft itself or elsewhere to cause this repeated trouble. I am sending the car up to Derby on the 4th and I shall be glad if you will give instructions that the matter may be gone into thoroughly and a cure effected. Yours faithfully, (Sd) F.C.Heffer. | ||
