Levallois Sr/VA3/ET.21.4.39 Re: CHASSIS 3.AX.185 - Mr. SPARROW (Fitting a high speed fan) Sr. has asked me to write to you concerning the advisibility of fitting a high speed to the above car. For your information, the car has been sent to us in order that we should carry out an R.15 engine clean and we are at the same time fitting a set of bearing blocks to the connecting rods having Hall's metal A.C.9 bearings and we are also deleting the oil cooler as per Depot Sheet N° By.2 etc (The dismantled W/M big end bearings are in very poor condition). Mr. Sparrow has written to Sr. to say that he will be taking his car to the United States about the middle of may and, in this connection, we attach copy of his letter dated the 18th instant. We should mention that Sr. has written to Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} re the contents of the letter. Apart from his letter, the owner has informed us that he will pass some very hot regions and also climb some very stiff mountain passes and it is for this reason that Sr. thinks that a high speed fan should be fitted because, needless to mention, we do not want the owner to get into trouble from overheating. The car is fitted with a Mark VI radiator having 44 vertical water ways. We attach to D/BP.'s copy of this memo our Official Order N° 2942 for a high speed fan and the necessary fittings, in the event of your agreeing to these parts being sent to us. Sr/VA. | ||
