C O P Y. E.G. SPARROW European Representative AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION Washington D.C., U.S.A. 18 Avenue Emile Deschanel P A R I S April 18th, 1939. Mr. W. SLEATOR, Managing Director, Franco-Britannic Autos Ltd. 12 Avenue George V, P A R I S. Dear Mr. Sleator, The Association Internationale des Automobiles Clubs Reconnus which, as you know, is composed of the national automobile clubs of almost every country in the world and whose headquarters are at 6 Place de la{L. A. Archer} Concorde, has accepted the invitation extended by my club to hold its congress this year in the United States early in June. So far, the clubs of the principal European countries have signified their intention of sending strong delegations, and the important Central and South American countries will also be well represented, which will be the first time that they have taken part in such a congress, chiefly because this is the first occasion on which the A.I.A.C.R. has held a congress outside of Europe since its foundation in 1904. I shall, of course, be going to the United States and plan to take my Phantom III, sailing the middle of May. I am looking forward to using it especially for the inspection tour organised by my club, which will last about 10 days and will go from Washington to Akron, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Buffalo, Albany and back to New York. I plan to stay on for 6 weeks in the United States and drive to the Pacific coast and back. I would therefore appreciate any special information you could give me with regard to service in the United States and also with regard to any special fuel, tyres, oils, etc., obtainable in that country. I have in mind particularly engine lubricating oil, shock absorber and ride control oil, as well as fluid for the hydraulic jacks. I am at present using Castrol XL for the engine and gear box, Castrol F for the shock absorbers and Castrol Castraulic for the jacks. I would indeed appreciate your assistance in this matter and in the meantime remain, with best wishes, Yours cordially, Sgd. Ed.{J. L. Edwards} G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} SPARROW | ||
