BRAKES. 40/60.

R-R AGREED SCHEME.

We had a car running on Tuesday for the first time fitted with the agreed scheme. The arrangement looked neater than anything else we have had. The brakes worked satisfactorily except that there was not sufficient assistance from the servo. Considerable foot pressure is necessary for maximum braking.

We are arranging to alter the angle of the thread which operates the servo. At present it is 35° - we are having another made 45°.

The arrangement of the generator and magneto on the engine looks quite neat.

The car is now being completed as regards under-shields etc. and will leave Derby for France tomorrow.

We find with the exhaust system as arranged we lose power. We have increased the down pipe from 2.25" to 2.5". We still lose a little with this.

Further modifications are being tested.
