Engine Dept. 18.4.12. D.O. Re testing exhaust valve springs. TBB14/L18412. Will you please get out a scheme for running two camshafts in a marine engine crankchamber by means of separate belts. The arrangement should be such that the camshafts can be run one at a time and should be rigged up in a quiet place with similar conditions on either side of the engine, so that the noise of each camshaft by itself can be criticized under similar conditions of reflecting walls and ceilings etc. This rig will enable us to criticize the difference in silence of various patterns of cams and the difference obtained with exhaust and inlet profiles. (Mr Nadin has already discussed this matter with you). | ||
