10th April 1912.

To Members of the Technical Committee.

Testing exhaust valve springs, and the difference in silence of one pattern of cam and another, and the difference of exhaust and inlet cams.
-----------------

Arrange a marine engine crankchamber with two camshafts, each to be driven separately with belt and fast and loose countershafts for each, so that one only can be run, one at a time, immediately after another.

Arrange a quiet place for the experiment and so the critic can stand in the same relative position for sound, i.e. the same distance from reflecting walls and ceilings.
