X 4655. c. Mailing. EFC5/AD. 26th September, 1929. Messrs. Peto & Radford Ltd. 50, Grosvenor Gardens, London, S.W.1. Dear Sirs, Re : Ebonite Separators. This will confirm our conversation with your Messrs. Minchin and Pritchett during their recent visit to our premises concerning the matter of ebonite separators for our standard P & R batteries. It was agreed that the actual thickness of ebonite separators should be kept within comparatively fine limits - if the separators are too much less than the rated amount of .4 mm. there is risk of this being the cause of first failure in a cell, on the other hand the use of too thick (say .6 mm.) separators does put the charging P.D. up more than we like. We have previously urged for a compromise of .5 mm. and implied that we looked upon .4 mm. as the absolute minimum. The position now is that we have agreed with your representative for the use of .4 mm. provided the limits of error are on the positive side and not on the negative. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
