E.F.C. J.D.39 X 3839. X46175 Re Failure of P&R cell in ST Battery (181) No 5 a P&R Threaded Rubber cell has failed in the above battery, after running 25,820 miles on the road & has been on our bench life test 14 months. On opening up this cell it was found to have the Threaded Rubber separators with the ribs to the negative & the flat side to the positive. The negative plates were found to be very good. The positive plates had lost only a small amount of paste compared with its life, but were very weak mechanically, the periphery of the plates was also fractured in several places. The threaded rubber separators were fair some being pierced in places & were also very brittle & easily broken. The failure originated with the flat side of the separators facing the wmth | ||
