Mr. Claude Johnson - Sheet 3.

The Bakelite molding outfit at the Delco factory is quite as expensive a plant as our Drop Forge Shop at Derby, each press resembling a small steam-hammer in size and weight.

The prices quoted us by the Bosch Company on electrical equipment, are their standard trade prices, and the same equipment can be bought from retail stores at prices not more than 50% above these. Therefore, we are sure that the Bosch Company would not want to increase the price after they got in full production on parts for us, provided they did not differ materially from their standard production.

X 800 X 4284 Referring to the Delco distributor, we believe that this company does not now use Bakelite for any distributor tracks, this practice having given the makers a great deal of trouble in the early days. We think Mr. Royce will find that all the Delco distributor tracks are a special sort of hard rubber.

In conclusion, we wish to ask Mr. Royce whether he has any objection to our handing copies of his and Mr. Clarke's reports on American electrical equipment to the makers, as we feel that they would be of great interest and use to the makers and of use to us in developing equipment suitable to our requirements.

Yours truly,
ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA, Inc.
