To Ry. From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} C. Wer. S. Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} X7060. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/MJ.16.12.29. X7060 X5060 20 HP. AND PHANTOM VALVE SPRINGS. We have recently fitted to our Expl. cars the latest modified valve springs which are the open ended type. In every case where we change to these springs we are in trouble with valve noises. On the production cars the noise is not noticeable on Phantom II but they have been in trouble on the 20 HP. since the springs have been modified. We recommend that we go back to the previous design of valve spring because it is certain the open ended ones are going to be more difficult to get quiet and the advantages we gain from them are not likely to be great. The only valve spring we have had break on Expl. cars for years has been one of the latest open ended type. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
