To Ey. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. X7060. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL.1/MJ.23.9.291 x777° x7060 PHANTOM 11 VALVE SPRING REMOVING TACKLE. We have tested out the proposed tools to be included in the car kit, for removing valve springs without dismantling the cylinder head. The crew jack portion for compressing the valve springs is quite satisfactory and could not be improved on. The second piece, for preventing the valve from opening, is very awkward for use on Nos. 3 and 4 cylinders. It is very difficult to screw it into the sparking plug holes, there is not sufficient room to get a spanner on the nut; the induction pipe bend is in the way. Also the tommy bar is difficult to manipulate owing to the close proximity of the induction pipe. This difficulty can be overcome by lengthening the sleeve which is screwed into the sparking plug hole by 2" and by lengthening the central rod by the same amount. This alteration will make this tool very easy to use. A further modification might be carried out with advantage, the tommy bar if fixed into the central rod in the same place as the bent portion would become an indicator to show when the bent portion is lined up with the valve it is required to hold in position.
