H.R. 663. (1 doz.) (SD. 185. 8-2-17.) Bm. 2/125/17. ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS To: Mr Hives for Experimental Works. Order No. Customer's No.: Laboratory Re testing of con. rods From our conversation of yesterday I consider that we should have 6 special rods forged ie two in M.S. & four in N.S. The former should be forged as usual & then quenched out from 930°C in water & tempered 500°C (This treatment should leave them in rather unsatisfactory state owing to insufficient drawing.) Brinell about 260 Two of the N.S. should be purposely overheated in forging (say to 1100°C) & heat treated as usual per 30Z The other two should be forged under normal conditions & then heat treated 880°C in oil tempd as usual & Brinell of about 302. Signed: HCSL This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
