Both cells had cracked badly where sealed at the top.

2 Fuller + Oldham
Sealing compound cracked at sides, one of the Fuller terminals (pos) corroded slightly.

3. Exide
Both OK.
This battery has now been reconditioned and is now receiving treatment in the lab.
