2 J.D.60. type. The slots had been opened by pressure of the positive grid bars these being arched & distorted. Mr McKinnon saw this cell & he suggested the ebonite separators should have a frame all round to strengthen same but this would put up the expense considerably. I gave him various reasons why this would not be an advantage & he agreed. The slotted & ebonite separator has now been superceded by the circular hole perforated separator which I think will be found to be much superior. The cause of failure was due to the separators failing in the first place, this causing sulphation & the positive plates to grow & short on the negative strap. gg. | ||
