E.J.C. J.D.60 X.46175. 28-2-30. X46175 Failure of cell in SX Battery (Exide) No 4 cell has failed in the above battery & was originally in S4 battery. It has now ran 31,051 miles & has been on our bench life test 39 months. The negative plates were in very good condition. The positive plates were fair, having lost a good amount of active material, the grid bars were very weak & distorted, & the plates were definitely buckled but this is a thing which is now practically unknown. The grid was of the standard type having the apices of the grid bars facing outwards. The wood separators were poor these being pierced in places & also split probably due to the pressure of the plates with buckling. The ebonite separators were mainly good & were of the slotted perforation (contd) | ||
