20 HP. RAKED COLUMN. X4264 X4067

We have proved by experience that with the raked column on the 20 HP. it is very necessary to have a support off the instrument board and scuttle. We have running some of the original cars which were made which have no support. It is apparent as soon as one drives one of these cars, the amount of movement on the steering column and wheel, especially over a bumpy road.

It is not satisfactory to have the instrument board supports with the instrument board not fixed to the scuttle because of the movement which takes place.

All the experimental cars have the instrument board fixed to the scuttle by means of wood screws. We have only ever known one case of the instrument board coming loose and we believe this was due to the shrinking of the framework of the scuttle, rather than due to any movement of the steering.

We have run cars quite successfully on which we have used no instrument board supports, but have fixed the column to the instrument board without the supports off the dash.
