BENTLEY V.{VIENNA}

1. (cont)

pressed on the B.V at the start. In that event the design of a box similar to Wraith with the addition of the overdrive has been produced for use in its stead.

2. 8-B-V - Valve Spring Failure

A discussion took place on the valve spring failures, which failures have not been produced on the test bed. This item is to be kept under observation, and a complete record of cars on the road is to be maintained in connection with this subject. The number of breakages is considered to be serious owing to the few breakages per annum which are normally experienced.

3. Unsatisfactory Starting

The thermo-electric starter is not yet satisfactory as fitted to this car (8-B-V). Further development is proceeding. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}emphasized the necessity of an alternative scheme being available for B.V. in the event of the thermo-electric type continuing to be unsatisfactory under certain conditions.

4. B.V.Programme

The question of ordering bodies for B.V production, and the time required by Park Ward in connection with such bodies requires to be investigated. Indications point to the necessity of this matter being settled without delay, and S.will take immediate action in this connection.

5. Cost of Production

This is dealt with by RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}1/FH6.1.39. It was left to Ll.Smith to confer again with Tr.{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance} in order to get the costs on the same comparative basis.

BENTLEY 50

1. Car for Officials to Try

W. will inform S. as soon as this car is actually ready for them.
