1110 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler}4/JH. 16th. December, 1938. G.H. Rodway Ltd., 90, Moor Street, BIRMINGHAM.4. For the attention of Mr. Willmott. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 12th inst. Our present practice is to cut the starter teeth integral with the flywheel, and owing to improvements in the starter motor pinion drive, we have not experienced trouble with damage to the teeth for some years. On the older models, we have for many years past made a practice of machining the flywheel when the teeth are damaged, and shrinking on a gear ring, but even so the quantities required are small, and we are well equipped for carrying out this operation economically in our works. Thanking you for your offer of assistance. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
