NOTES RE SUPERIORITY OF PETO & RADFORD B.D.11.

BATTERIES FOR 40/50 H.P.CHASSIS.
----------

(1) An impression has been gained that this is a larger and heavier battery than the present standard, but this is not the case, it is merely an improved type.

(2) The improvement consists chiefly in the fact that it is more robust.

(3) The plates are appreciably thicker and stronger and have a real locked grid preventing the possibility of pellets falling out.

(4) The paste used is harder and overcharging will not cause so much powdering and disintigration as in the present type.

(5) The separators are much more substantial nearly twice the thickness and ribbed each side.

(6) There is approximately twice the volume of acid per cell, which makes the battery electrically more efficient and the gravity need not be run up quite so high. The battery will stand overcharging very much more readily and will not want topping up nearly so often.

(7) The vents are exceedingly efficient and have small feet which hold the separators down and prevent them from rising and allowing the buckling of the lower edges of the plates to cause short circuits.

(8) The Dagenite cells are stronger and will not crack, so leaking cannot occur with the Peto & Radford Battery.

(9) The battery in teak box with lid{A. J. Lidsey} and patent holding down and fastening arrangements is actually no heavier than the present battery plus its containing case.

(10) The method of fixing the battery is very simple and effective, and the lid{A. J. Lidsey} cannot rattle as the present one with leather strap does.

(11) The P. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} B.D.11 batteries have given satisfactory results in laboratory and road tests.

(12) The P. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} Battery is very considerably cheaper than the present type and there is quite a big saving per chassis.
