Attention Mr. Clements.

Dear Sirs,

We have nine experimental cars running on test fitted with your sliding roofs, most of these we find very difficult to operate. We have found that one of the worse troubles is that the felts have been greased and collected a certain amount of grit so that the felt has hardened up.

These bodies have all been built by Messrs. Park Ward, the type of roofs that have been fitted we think, are all of the double cam type which operates on a ramp to lift the rear part of the roof with the exception of one which has a central control and the rolling bar for lifting.

We would like to replace the felts in all these roofs with a block felt which has been impregnated with tallow. We shall be obliged if you will supply us with 9 sets of felts. Unfortunately, we do not know if all the cars have your latest type of slide at the back of the roof. Possibly some of these may have the runners with the flexible end pieces. That being so, it will naturally call for a different type of felt, but we think that the felts at the rear end of this type of roof is the same as that used at the front end. If it is so, please arrange to supply us with an additional 12 pieces of a channel shaped felt. We shall then be in a position to deal with either type of roof.
