Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MAG.1/EH.14.2.41. 10021 REPORT ON QUANTITY PRODUCED COACHWORK With reference to the following cars in our ration-alised programme, we give below our report showing progress of the work on B.V., Silver Phantom, Cresta and Myth. B.V. SIX-LIGHT. Regarding the standardised bodies that Park Ward have in hand for this chassis, the following shows the present position of tools, shop equipment etc :- PRESS TOOLS. These are made and are in the try-out stage. Some of them may require slight modifications before production is commenced. The tools are stored at Motor Panels, Coventry and we have arranged that they will check them over and see that none of the smaller tools have been mislaid since September 1939, also let us know where they are stored in their works. By doing this, we feel that a certain amount of delay will be avoided when production is called for. The estimated time given by them, that will be required for manufacture of parts for delivery to Park Wards after hostilities have ceased, is two months. PRODUCTION JIGS. These are made and are in the try-out stage; being constructed chiefly from timber, they may require adjustment through shrinkage or distortion having taken place during storage. We found the conditions under which they were stored at Motor Panels, Coventry, were bad and as the situation of their works is in a district that is very liable to be bombed and the jigs destroyed, we have now collected them and they are stored at Shardlow in one of the buildings there, under much better conditions. CHECKING JIGS. A certain number of these have been made by Park Ward, others have to be made. | ||
