5-B-IV - Steering.

The steering of the above car is at present very unsatisfactory due to very bad geometry in the rebound position of the front axle.

The attached Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 237 shows how we wish to improve this and consists of considerably lengthening the radius rods and of raising the steering box 1.750" on the frame.

The longer radius rods will involve new brackets for supporting the rods on the axle and the frame. The raising of the steering box will necessitate a 1.750" packing piece and cutting a large hole in the dash as the column will lie just above the sloping position of the dash. The rear side steering tube joint should be made the same as the present front joint. The pendulum lever should be set to bring the lower end 0.500" further out than at present.

Will you please detail the above and carry out the modification on 5-B-IV.
