EAC. 1. HYDRAULIC SHOCK DAMPERS ON REAR.

We have looked into the question of fitting hydraulic shock dampers to the rear of the above car in conjunction with your F75246.

We do not like the position of the lever and connecting rod shewn on that drawing, which does not seem very effective, and furthermore, the use of a 13" lever appears to be working the shock damper to the full limits inside the cylinder bore, which we have tried to avoid hitherto.

We also do not care for the modifications to the brake gear, and on N. scheme 2223. herewith we shew how the existing arrangement of brake gear could be retained by pushing it further in towards the centre of the car. We believe that there is nothing in the petrol tank which prevents us doing this.

It is intended to use a 13" lever on the EAC. 7. arrangement, of which we shall be sending you particulars in the course of a few days, but since this involves a new shock damper body, and we expect that you wish to get the shock dampers on EAC. 1. as soon as possible, we have taken the existing body and used a 14 1/2" lever giving us a margin at either end of the stroke.

We are asking for a longer brake operating shaft, and slight modifications to the flanged hub of the axle tube for carrying the brackets.

We have also arranged the lower spring pad forging to take the shock damper ball end.

With reference to the modifications to the brake equaliser gear, and to the intermediate lever on the third cross member we agree to what you shew on F75246., as we have retained the line of the brake ropes you shew on that drawing.
