- 3 - HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/LK.{L. King}1/VS.{J. Vickers}6.5.38. Rear Brakes (Continued). On the brake mechanism of the rear off side wheel the forked ends of the brake shoes GB.2753 are distorted due to unequal thrust of the brake adjuster trunnion; otherwise all parts are in good condition and the wear on the brake linings is not excessive. 3. Rear Hubs. The rear brake drum liners GB.2832, produced in R.R. cast iron, are porous in several places; otherwise the condition of the rear hubs is satisfactory. 4. Rear Springs. Fitted to specification HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/NHB.4/BA.9.12.37. The type of spring fitted to this chassis, produced by Messrs. Woodhead, is lubricated from the centre bolt by a pipe line through the spring anchorage bracket from No. 3 Bijur restriction plug. The near side spring is in good condition. The second leaf on the off side spring is broken (see photograph attached). HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/L. King. | ||
