COPY 86021 THE CHLORIDE ELECTRICAL STORAGE COMPANY LIMITED. EXIDE WORKS, CLIFTON JUNCTION, Nr. MANCHESTER. LONDON OFFICE, 137, VICTORIA STREET, S.W.1. Our reference CPL/LJ. Your reference E.5/HP. Messrs.Rolls-Royce, Ltd., DERBY. 29 August, 1933. Dear Sirs, We beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 24th instant, and have pleasure in giving you herewith the technical data referring to the two batteries which you discussed with Mr.McKinnon on the occasion of his recent visit to your Works. New Battery in Wood Crate, type 6-XHS13-1. We understand that this battery would only be required in certain special instances, and we have therefore prepared a design using existing standard components, including burnt-up inter-cell connections. We attach copy of our drawing GD.57923 showing the general layout and overall dimensions of this battery and also drawing No.GD.57924 showing details of the individual assembly. You will note from this drawing that we have actually shown a mud space of 3/4" as compared with the figure of 1" which you mentioned to Mr.McKinnon. If this figure of 3/4" is approved, it would enable us to utilise boxes which we have already in stock. We would, if necessary, be quite prepared to increase this mud space to 1", but this would of course involve a corresponding increase in the over-all height of the battery. The technical data for this battery (which is also given on the drawings) is as follows:- Battery Type 6-XHS13-1. Assembly - Individual cells in wood crate with or without wood cover. Intercell- Solid lead burned to terminal pillars. Connections. | ||
