600a also 200d. See 200a for Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s reply to this memo. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Ry. c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} FRENCH TESTS. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/H.8.3.38. We have completed 11,000 miles' running on the Bentley, and it has been brought back to England for the remainder of the running to be done under more ordinary traffic conditions. Unfortunately, the body is in an advanced state of disintegration, and, consequently, the remainder of the running may be delayed while this is put right. We have issued an intermediate report on the car as it left Chateauroux, and the only examination which has so far been carried out has been on the bearings with a view to seeing whether these could be released for production; they were not satisfactory. Unless anything unforeseen happens the Wraith car will have completed 15,000 miles by the middle of next week. Possibly it might be considered more economical for Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} to give this a run in the mountains before it returns, rather than take another car across to France. We have arranged that the car shall not return until the matter has been further discussed. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
