Replying to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}1/GR.{George Ratcliffe}19.4.33. Bensport Generally. Higher axle ratio.- We have available for the Bensport car three axle ratios. We have decided to instruct two alternative ratios although we anticipate more than 90% of the cars will have the standard ratio as used on Bensport 1. Intake silencer. - Tests with this are in progress. Phantom ll. The P.ll unit with bored out cylinders has been run for a number of hours on the test bed. Development work on this engine is still in progress on the test bed and we shall not put the unit into 85-J.S. until we are satisfied with it. Road Wheels. The Rudge Whitworth road wheels failed on the Bentley car tested in France. We have had the Rudge Whitworth people over to examine the wheels and they have admitted the design to be faulty and are supplying us with a further set of hubs with improvements. These will be fitted to the next car going to France. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
