RE BRUSH AND BRUSH HOLDER OF 40/50 HP. CHASSIS DYNAMO.

Referring to the model of the above recently brought to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town, would you kindly note that Mr. Royce would like it improved in respect to two points :-

(1) Use a brush containing less copper. Since there are four brushes on the machine of large capacity the use of the brush containing more carbon should not give rise to any trouble. On the other hand, the advantages to be gained Mr. Royce considers are worth having.

(2) The spring mechanism designed for the 20 H.P. chassis motor and dynamo brushes should be adopted for this 40/50 H.P. brush, and if possible the complete method of constructing the brush holder as on the 20 H.P. should be adopted.
The 20 H.P. brush holder is easier to manufacture. In any case, Mr. Royce wishes to use the later type of brush spring mechanism.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
